The annual United Way Day of Caring was carried out on June 25 with 107 volunteers performing duties at three sites in the county.

The Heimlich Park in Cardington, was covered with 17 1/2 tons of mulch by a crew of volunteers that worked energetically in cloudy, threatening weather to improve that site dramatically. The mulch was funded by the Delaware Foundation.

Volunteers placed insulation and siding on the Habitat for Humanity house being constructed on Cherry Street in Mount Gilead and a crew of 4-H Club members and seven assistants from Whetstone worked on landscaping and also helped with the storage room at Hospice of Morrow County location on South Street.

Jodi Hayes, executive director of Morrow County United Way, said, “It’s amazing for Morrow County for people too come out and show their support. The number of youths that came out to help was also exciting.”

Hayes extended thanks to all who made this day successful.
