The Danville Lions Club, to commemorate the 70th Annual Raccoon Dinner and the 75th Charter Anniversary of the Club’s birth, have release the 2014 Danville Lions Club pin. This is not the only pin created by the club. The first was released when the club had one of its member serving as a district governor in 1991. Additional pins were created over the years featuring the various elements of the tradition, including a set with a knife, fork, & spoon. The pins have been quite popular within the local community and within the Ohio Lions organizations, being sought after by many collectors.
The 2014 pin features a cooking roaster, with a lid & fork held by a cartoon character raccoon. The pin is on sale now for $4 each at the Knox County Convention & Visitors Bureau, 105 South Main Street in Mount Vernon, and at Lonsinger Pharmacy on East Main Street in Danville.
The 2014 Danville Lions Club Raccoon Dinner will be held Monday, February 3rd at the St. Luke’s Community Center, located immediately behind the Danville St. Luke’s Catholic Church. The meal will be served from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m. on a first come, first served basis. At 7:00 p.m., the Danville Jazz Band will perform for the attendees across the street from the Community Center in the High School Auditorium. The main event will follow the band at 8:00 p.m. with a presentation by five time world weight lifting champion Rick Metzger.
