Morrow County’s Special Olympics basketball team from Whetstone finished their season with a 5-8 record. Their final game came Saturday, Feb. 15 against the Angeline Indians of Wyandot County in the Clearwater Athletic League Tournament, dropping the contest 51-40. Early in the game, the Cougars stayed close, finishing the first quarter down 16-13. It wasn’t so in the second frame as they were outscored 18-5 to be down 36-18 at halftime. The third quarter ended 41-22. The fourth quarter saw the Cougars claw their way back with Noah Johnson scoring all of his eight points and Jason Pryor six of his 10 points as they outscored their opponent 18-6. It was just too much of a deficit to overcome as Wyandot County took the consolation game. Other players scoring on the day were Mike Knipp with 14, David Sargel with four, Matt Ohler with two and Garett Bader with two.
