Turkey season has started in Ohio

For many hunters, spring in Ohio brings the unmistakable sound of gobbling wild turkeys and Ohio’s annual hunt of this popular game bird. The 2014 Ohio spring hunting season opened Monday, April 21, with the youth wild turkey season on Saturday and Sunday, April 19-20. The youth turkey hunters finally had a good weekend of weather for a change and although the breeding season is a tad behind thanks to late arrival of spring, the birds are actively breeding now.

Tri-Rivers Career Center believes in the future

As the 2013-2014 school year draws to a close, once again I’m reminded of the message I shared with the TRCC Staff seven years ago when I became superintendent of the Career Center: ”It’s amazing how much can be accomplished when no one cares who gets the credit.” This is a quote from John Wooden, former UCLA basketball coach, and it certainly fits the transformation we have seen at Tri-Rivers.

Letter: Whetstone, Extension levies worth voting for

Dear Editor,We all like to get a bargain and want the most value for our hard earned dollars. I believe that Whetstone and The OSU Cooperative Extension Service deliver a great value for the dollars spent. The real value delivered at Whetstone Industries and the 4H program alone merits a yes vote for the replacement levies. The measure of a dollar well spent is in what can be accomplished by a well-run organization beyond what we can do as individuals....

Autism in Our Midst

Have you seen a child swinging on a swing with almost desperate focus, rocking madly, tapping repeatedly on any surface, banging her head against a wall and screaming, letting out sharp noises, humming softly to herself, wearing diapers in elementary school, not making eye contact, needing more personal space, or solving math problems at great speed?
