Local Dairy celebrates 100 Years

The Spring Valley Farm in Mt. Gilead, owned and operated by the Creswell family, celebrated 100 years in the dairy business with an open house and ox roast on Saturday August 9.Approximately 250 people took the tour of the dairy farm from noon to 3 p.m. and about 200 people returned that evening for a celebration ox roast.History of the farmThe farmhouse was built in 1914 by Will and Velma Creswell, Robert Creswell’s parents. When Robert was 10 years old his father died and Robert, along with his mother Velma, kept the farm going.

Waterfowl hunting zones have been simplified

Ohio’s waterfowl hunting zones were simplified for waterfowl hunters after the 2014-2015 season dates and bag limits were approved by the Ohio Wildlife Council on Wednesday, Aug. 20. The South Zone, North Zone and Lake Erie Marsh Zone remain the same for waterfowl hunting, but the Lake Erie Goose Zone that previously covered much of northeast Ohio was removed.
