Two injured in Saturday evening crash

Saturday April 19, 2014 - Two people were injured following a two-vehicle crash at approx. 7:45 pm. today at the intersection of CR 27 and CR 28 in Canaan Township.A silver Volvo S40 was traveling north on CR 28 when it failed to stop at the intersection of CR 27 and CR 28, striking virtually head-on a white Hyundai Tuscon that was traveling west on CR 27.The driver of the Volvo was transported to MCH via Morrow County EMS. He did not have any passengers.The Hyundai mini van was carrying 4 people. A 10-year-old passenger was Med-Flighted to Grant Hospital in Columbus.The accident is under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

 

Jackson sentenced in vehicular homicide case

More than two years has passed since the fatal accident that claimed the life of a local Chesterville area man. Today, the accused drunk driver convicted in his death learned how much time he would spend behind bars.Cory Jackson of Bellville was sentenced on Friday, April 18, 2014 in front of a packed courtroom by Morrow Common Pleas Court Judge Howard Hall. Jackson sentenced, fined in agg. vehicular homicide case

4/18/14 11:15 a.m. - Cory Jackson of Bellville was sentenced to 48 months in prison, a $10,000 fine and a 40-year suspended license in Morrow County Common Pleas court this morning. He received a sentence of 108 days concurrent with the 4-year sentence along with a $1,075 fine for driving under the influence. He was remanded to the Morrow County Corrrectional Facility after his sentencing.Details to come.
