One injured in Friday morning accident

08.22.14 - 12:30 pm - A 54-year-old Galion woman was injured Friday morning after the pickup truck she was driving was struck by a dump truck.Esta Ness, 54, of Galion, was transported via Morrow County EMS to Med Central Hospital with non life threatening injuries following the crash involving her 1998 Ford Ranger pick up truck and a Mack Dump truck owned by Karcher Trucking.According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the driver of the dump truck, Michael Oiler, 44, of Crestline, was traveling eastbound near the 5400 block of County Road 59 when he attempted to move to the right side of the roadway to allow room for Ness’ westbound vehicle on the narrow roadway.


Mt Gilead School Board to hold special meeting

Lawrence T. Orcena

Lawrence T. Orcena, age 87, of Mt. Gilead, OH died Thursday, August 21, 2014 at his home.He was born in Marion, OH on December 5, 1926 to the late Frank and Blanche (Jenkins) Orcena.Larry was in the Navy for almost four years. He got out a little early when World War II ended. After being home about a year he married Lowana “Ronnie” Marshall on April 26, 1947. Together they went to Bible College in Owosso, MI.

The 15th Annual Fredericktown Community benefit auction was held on August 9, 2014. “Peddlers in the Park” draws crowd at the Mt. Gilead State Park

Peddlers came from as far away as North Dakota to enjoy camping and take part in activities at Mount Gilead State Park last weekend. Bill and Marcia Cadle travelled all the way from North Dakota and said they are originally from central Ohio. They enjoy returning to the area and especially camping at the state park and taking part in “Peddlers in the Park.” They were selling hand-crafted jewelry and sharing a peddler’s tent with Dianne Bishop Carey of Marion.
