LEXINGTON — Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course hosted many activities as part of the Morrow County track’s AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days on July 8-10.

Motorcycles took to the track all three days, practicing and qualifying on Friday and early Saturday and then racing later that day, as well as Sunday. Off the track, there were motocross events, as well as hare scrambles and trials. Those took place in and around the campground area.

Also, dirt track racing took place in the evenings at the Ashland County Fairgrounds.

Several other activities took place around the Mid-Ohio facility throughout the weekend. As always, North America’s largest motorcycle swap meet was held on the premises.

The grand marshal for the weekend was Wes Cooley, an AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame inductee. His 1980 championship-winning Suzuki GS1000 also was part of the infield display: Celebrating 40 Years of AMA Superbikes, along with other historic championship-winning machines.

Six premier custom motorcycle builders displayed their designs along Builders’ Row, as Analog Motorcycles, Chris Carr Design, Federal Moto, The GasBox, Loaded Gun Customs, TC Bros and Wilkinson Brothers all were on hand.

Seminars were held throughout the weekend, with several featured speakers at the Goodyear Tower on all three days. Also held during the event was the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Bike Show, demo rides, live music, a pair of premier raffle bikes on display and other activities.

The next major event hosted by Mid-Ohio will be The Honda Indy 200, which runs the weekend of July 29-31.
