After being stopped in the regional finals in volleyball two of the past three years, Highland finally broke through on Saturday, topping Huron in a hard-fought match to make it to the Division III Final Four.

The win wasn’t an easy one for the Scots, as after winning the first game by a score of 25-11, they dropped two straight to their opponents before rallying for the win.

After falling behind 1-0, the Tigers rallied to take the second set 25-19 and then won the third by a 25-18 margin. Facing elimination, Highland fought back to take a 25-10 win. They would then win the fifth and final game by a 15-7 margin to advance to the state semi-finals, where they will play Tuscarawas Valley on Friday at 4 p.m. at Wright State’s Nutter Center.

Ashton Terrill finished with 25 kills and three aces for the Scots, while Raina Terry added 21 kills and Kelsey Walters tallied nine. Taylor Belcher picked up four kills, two aces and 24 assists and Krista Walters added three kills and three blocks.

Gena West had three kills and two blocks, while Parker Steck tallied 28 assists. Also, both Bridget Oder and Bailey Santo were praised for their back-row defense.
