The heat and humidity didn’t slow down the contestants in the “Strong” Contest at the Sweet Corn Festival. At least you couldn’t notice any slacking in the 43 who competed in the “Strong” contest sponsored by Buckeye Training and Fitness Academy (BTFA) last Saturday.

The contest ran almost three hours in the sun with 90 plus degree heat and lots of humidity that had weather forecasters placing the heat index at 105 degrees. However, the heat factor couldn’t stop the effort that the children, women and men put into winning the competition.

The “Adult Strong” contest consisted of tire flips and a timed “Farmers’ Hold.” The children did mini-flips for their contest. Both adult men and women also competed in the “Deadlift” contest.

BTFA Instructor, Maria Castricone was very pleased with the turnout and efforts of the contestants. She said it is the third year BTFA has hosted the event and it has gotten bigger every year.
