The Mount Vernon Nazarene University volleyball team ran its win streak to five matches to start the 2015 season, thanks to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 26-24) win at non-conference rival Ohio Christian University Tuesday night.

MVNU (5-0) has also yet to lose a set this year after sweeping four matches at the Robert Morris University (Ill.) Invitational this past weekend. The Lady Cougars recorded 3-0 victories over Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.), Great Lakes Christian College, Robert Morris, and Governors State University (Ill.).

Annelise Rohrer and Grace Tucker powered the Lady Cougar offense on Tuesday night with seven kills each followed by Audrey McCullough with six kills. Carolyn Beatty and Kelsey Bryte each chipped in with five kills. Bridget Troyer and Emily Rahe combined to dish out 26 assists with Troyer compiling a team best 15 and Rahe posting 11. In addition, Rahe served up two aces and had 12 digs on the defensive side of the net.

Marlowe Beatty stopped multiple Ohio Christian (0-1) attacks with 23 digs, Rohrer generated 14 digs, and Kristen Osborn finished with 10. McCullough was active at the front of the net, denying five attacks thanks to two solo blocks and three block assists.

Sarah Hasel led Ohio Christian with 11 kills and Megan Morrison had a solid match offensively as well with 10 kills. Virginia Keppler had 28 assists and Hasel was the leading defender with 15 digs, two solo blocks, and one block assist.

MVNU will play the home opener on Wednesday September 2nd in Ariel Arena against Grace College (Ind.) at 7:00 PM. The contest will also be the first Crossroads League match of the season for the Lady Cougars.
