Mount Gilead made it two in a row in Blue Division play with a 48-20 win over East Knox Friday.

The Indians got off to a fast start, scoring 20 points in the first quarter and 14 more in the second to lead 34-12 at the half on their way to improving to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in league play.

In the opening period, Deondre Cook scored on a 70-yard run and an end zone dive. After the Bulldogs scored a touchdown, Tyler Bland then ran the ensuing kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown.

With the score 20-12 early in the second quarter, the Indians pulled away with a pair of scores. Jonah Barnett tallied a 27-yard rushing score and Cook hit Bland for a nine-yard touchdown. The Indians would then get runs of 20 and 78 yards from Cook in the second half to account for their final two touchdowns. Barnett added three two-point conversion runs in the game.

MG got 377 of their 403 total yards on the ground with Cook rushing for 173 yards and Barnett adding 167 more. Through the air, Cook completed two passes for 26 yards with both Mason Mollohan and Bland recording receptions.
