The Highland seventh grade girls’ basketball team won two of three games over the past few days.

On Wednesday, Jan. 20, they topped Northmor 38-4. Highland jumped out to a 16-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back in picking up the win.

Monday, Jan. 25, saw the seventh grade Scots jump out to another fast start against Cardington. After one period of play, the score was 13-0 in favor of Highland and they would go on to defeat the Pirates 45-7.

However, on Wednesday, Jan. 27, Highland lost a close decision to Fredericktown. In the 18-17 game, the Scots led 5-0 after the first quarter and 9-6 at the half, but the Freddies tied the score in the third and wound up winning by one point.

Highland eighth grade girls

Highland won its eighth grade girls’ basketball game over Fredericktown Wednesday by a 23-14 margin.

The Scots led after every quarter, but needed a strong fourth period to pull away. The score was 3-0 after the first period, 11-8 after the second and 15-11 after the third. Highland then took the fourth 8-3 to finish on top by nine.

Brooklyn Baird scored 10 points, while Madison Cecil and Joselyn Stuckman both added five.
