Northmor, Highland both in FB playoffs

Thanks to topping Loudonville 34-7 at home on Friday, the Northmor football team earned the right to potentially host two playoff games this year.

The Golden Knights (8-2, 6-1 in league play) finished fourth in Division VI, Region 23. They will host Coal Grove Dawson-Bryant (4-6) on Friday and, if they win that game, will also be at home the following week.

Against Loudonville, Northmor jumped out to a 21-0 lead after 12 minutes of play thanks to the running of Carson Campbell. Campbell scored on carries of 16, 42 and 58 yards in the period to stake his team to a big lead early.

A.J. Bower hit Jax Wenger for a 20-yard scoring pass in the second period to send the team into the locker room up 28-0. While Loudonville scored in the third quarter to cut into the Northmor lead, Campbell would register his fourth score of the night on an 11-yard run in the fourth quarter to cement the win.

Northmor held a 471-184 advantage in total yardage. Campbell picked up 222 yards on the ground, while Paul Cramer added 99. Bower hit on 10-of-23 passes for 166 yards, with Wenger catching four passes for 48 yards and Hunter Fulk adding three receptions for 32.

Highland Scots

Highland will advance to the playoffs in Division IV, Region 18 this year after finishing the regular season 5-5, 2-5 in MOAC play.

The Scots, who fell 34-20 to visiting Ontario on Friday, finished 12th in the region. On Friday, they will visit Findlay Liberty-Benton (9-1).

Their game against the Warriors was closely contested in the first half. Ontario led 7-6 after the first quarter after Kolton Stover ran the ball in from three yards out to get the Scots on the board. After a Warrior field goal in the second quarter, Highland got a touchdown from Dane Nauman on an 18-yard run to take the lead at 13-10.

However, a late Ontario touchdown sent them into the half with a 17-13 advantage. They would add a pair of third-quarter touchdowns to boost their lead to a 31-13 score before the Scots got back on the board with a 68-yard touchdown pass from Stover to Kadyn Reichenbach.

Unfortunately for Highland, they would not be able to add to their score. Ontario got a field goal in the fourth quarter to finish on top by a 14-point margin.

Nauman tallied 102 yards on the ground, while Stover ran for 45 and hit on 9-of-19 passes for 178 yards. Reichenbach had three catches for 119 yards and Zach Church added three for 36.
