Highland’s boys’ cross country team took fifth place out of 14 teams Saturday at the Scots’ home invitational.
The Scots, who finished with 137 points, were led by Matthew Miller, who placed eighth in 17:14.19. Henry Spence ran 28th in 18:30.11, while Cael Gilmore took 29th in 18:31.54. Ethan Harmon was 37th in 18:48.4 and Jayden Marcum finished 44th in 19:03.09. Coleman Chamberlain claimed 58th in 19:37.28 and Caden Barsic took 65th in 19:58.95.
Also, Maddox Weiss was 71st, Brody Bonecutter was 73rd, Konner Blaney was 90th, Carson Young was 96th, Justin Berthold was 100th, Isaiah Ross was 110th, Bradon Lehman was 114th, Jacob Garber was 124th, Ben Sorrell was 125th, Jacob Bowen was 153rd, Rem Baker was 157th and Cash Lafever was 170th.
In the girls’ meet, Highland finished ninth in an 11-team race with 243 points.
Riley Matthews paced the Scots by placing 39th in 23:09.33, while Brielle Gilmore was 70th in 24:30.13, Rose Green finished 73rd in 24:41.17 and Abbie Pruett placed 76th in 25:00.05. Chloe Bolton claimed 115th in 26:37.29, Aubrey Kanagy ran 153rd in 28:51.78 and Karli Chamberlain placed 162nd in 30:15.42.
Also, Addison Clever was 176th, Emma Bolton was 193rd and Mary Green was 200th.
Bucyrus Invitational
In Saturday’s Bucyrus Elks Invitational, the Cardington boys took seventh place out of nine teams.
Dylan Compton led the team by placing 11th in 17:57.2. Riley Patterson ran 42nd in 20:06.5, while Cohen Rammelsberg finished 48th in 20:42.1 and Jacob McNichols was 49th in 21:01.2. Brayden Rammelsberg placed 65th in 22:39, Thor Kovacs took 69th in 23:36.4 and Jaxon Ongalibang placed 72nd in 23:42.1.
Also, Danny Townsend was 80th, Hunter Jones was 82nd, C.J. Jones was 92nd and Jacob Webb was 101st.
The girls did not run with a full team in the meet. Magi Hallabrin did place third overall with a time of 20:44.3. Also, Sydney Meade was 16th in 22:23.8 and Chessa Redman placed 25th in 24:20.5.
Gilead Christian also had runners participate in the meet. In the girls’ race, Seraiah Campbell was sixth in 21:15.5 and Aryanna Green placed 24th in 24:15.2.
The boys’ race saw Nathan Bossard run 34th in 19:26.7. Also, Jackson Keller was 53rd in 21:15 and Max Keller took 85th in 25:03.8.
