Mount Gilead Exempted Village Schools Board of Education members gathered with Morrow County Chamber of Commerce and village residents to celebrate the opening of the new fieldhouse complex before the first football game of the season on Aug. 23.

“This beautiful new fieldhouse has new locker rooms, a new ticket booth, new restrooms, new concessions and plenty of room for storage. In front are memorial bricks made through the music boosters’ fundraiser,” said Chamber board member Erin Kelty.

Mount Gilead District Superintendent Dr. Zack Howard said, “We are excited to have the community see the completed stadium project at the first home game vs. Triad. It has been a labor of love and lots of planning went into this project.”

Howard added there is now a better entrance to the football field and better parking (although all the paving wasn’t completed for the first game). He said the students have already began using the facility, and it was “priceless to see the smiles on their faces as they entered the new locker room space.”

The fieldhouse and paving project are part of the district’s capital projects plan. The plan included the stadium improvements, resurfaced track, reconstructed field and scoreboard.

“We are excited to celebrate the opening of this new building because it really brings the entire stadium renovation to a close,” said Howard.
