MG boys tops at Galion

Tommy Emberg led the Mount Gilead boys’ cross country team to victory at Galion on Saturday.

The Mount Gilead boys’ cross country team won the 26-team Division III Galion Cross Country Festival on Saturday with 107 points — four better than second-place FCA Homeschool.

The team was led by Tommy Emberg, who took 11th place in 17:15.6. Henry Bartlett ran 17th in 17:29, while Liam Stalnaker took 25th in 17:54 and Ethan Turner placed 26th in 17:56.2. Gage Bowersmith placed 39th in 18:17.1, Chace Staats took 51st in 18:40.9 and Brycen Gabriel finished 54th in 18:43.4.

Also, Cade Lewis was 69th, Jonathan Miller was 74th, Rowan Shaw was 93rd, Grayson Smith was 94th, Abram Newson was 107th, Tyler Miller was 123rd, Kasen Wallace was 133rd, Elias Bulkowski was 141st, Marshall Hand was 168th, Blake Staats was 169th and Max Bulkowski was 214th.

Northmor ran 11th in the race. David Blunk placed 20th in 17:44.5 and Owen Yunker was 48th in 18:35.9. Anthony Scheibe finished 73rd in 19:11.1, while Dane Creswell took 75th in 19:12.5 and Carter Thomas finished 109th in 19:47.2. Elliot Wall claimed 121st in 20:04 and Ethan Amens placed 159th in 21:17.5.

Also, Markus Parsons was 180th.

The Cardington Pirates were 24th. Dylan Compton led the team by running 65th in 19:01.8. Riley Patterson picked up 134th in 20:21.1, Jacob McNichols was 187th in 22:05.5 and Brayden Alwood took 189th in 22:07.4. Danny Townsend placed 211th in 23:06.7, while Hunter Jones was 229th in 24:15.8 and C.J. Jones placed 242nd in 25:38.2.

Also, Jacob Webb was 264th.

For Gilead Christian, Nathan Bossard placed 118th in 20:03.3, Jackson Keller ran 147th in 20:37.4 and Max Keller took 240th in 25:19.8.

In the 21-team Division III girls’ race, Mount Gilead placed fourth.

Kimberly Staley took fifth place in 20:03.9 to lead the Indians, while Gwen Hershner finished 21st in 21:08.7. Adriana Hershner followed in 38th with a time of 22:29.6 and Danielle Pohlkotte ran 61st in 23:23.8. Haley Pfeifer finished 63rd in 23:25.5, Sophie Mosher was 93rd in 24:19 and Natalie Jagger placed 107th in 24:48.1.

Also, Ava Baker was 151st, Brooke Jagger was 171st, Baylee Snyder was 178th and Lexi Fox was 221st.

Northmor claimed sixth place in the meet. Ryann Brinkman ran 17th in 20:46.4, while Natalie Hunter finished 33rd in 22:00.3. Veronica Kanagy placed 37th in 22:19.9 and Kate Lehman finished 51st in 22:59. Hannah Ambrose placed 66th in 23:27.1, Natalie Newman took 71st in 23:32.5 and Macie Witherall claimed 73rd in 23:36.7.

Also, Elizabeth Ruhl was 87th, Maddie May was 99th, Shelby Cooper was 118th, Katie Statler was 120th, Haylee Walker was 124th, Ella Albert was 136th, Harley Barler was 142nd, Ella Creswell was 187th and Kaylee Pope was 197th.

Cardington finished in 17th place with Magi Hallabrin running 26th in 21:20.5. Madison Garrabrant took 91st in 24:15.9, Bailey Crone placed 117th in 25:03.1 and Alayna Seavolt finished 122nd in 25:13.2. Chessa Redman took 147th in 26:19.8.

Gilead Christian got a 49th place finish from Seraiah Campbell, whose time was 22:58.

Newark Invitational

On Saturday, the Highland boys’ cross country team took fifth place at the Newark Invitational, while the girls were 13th.

The boys were paced by Matthew Miller, who ran 11th in 16:54.23. Ethan Harmon placed 34th in 18:03.95 and Coleman Chamberlain took 46th in 18:31.82, while Henry Spence ran 48th in 18:32.72. Jayden Marcum was 53rd in 18:57.39, Broderick Bonecutter took 59th in 18:57.39 and Maddox Weiss placed 69th in 19:09.02.

Also, Isaiah Ross was 82nd, Justin Berthold was 107th, Konner Blaney was 109th, Caden Barsic was 119th, Benjamin Sorrell was 121st, Carson Young was 126th, Jacob Bowen was 134th, Bryden Bisbee was 155th, Micah McLeod was 162nd and Bradon Lehman was 181st.

Leading the Lady Scots was Braylin Romshak, who placed 58th in 22:50.3. Brielle Gilmore took 74th in 23:15.38 and Riley Matthews claimed 84th in 23:47. Abbie Pruett finished 85th in 23:47.42 and Rose Green ran 89th in 23:54.36, while Chloe Bolton took 128th in 25:40.73 and Aubrey Kanagy finished 129th in 25:41.69.

Also, Karli Chamberlain was 157th, Addison Clever was 180th, Emma Bolton was 191st and Mary Green was 198th.
