Volleyball, soccer teams receive tournament draws

In the first year that volleyball got expanded from four to seven divisions, the Highland Scots earned the top seed in the Central District for Division IV. The Scots will open their tournament at home against Horizon Science Academy on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m.

The other Morrow County teams will open on the road. In Division V, Northmor will travel to third-seeded North Union on Tuesday, Oct. 15, for a 6 p.m. contest. Cardington and Mount Gilead both will play in Division VI. The Pirates will travel to second-seeded Newark Catholic on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 6 p.m. MG, who had a first-round bye, will travel to either top-seeded Pleasant or Grandview Heights on Tuesday, Oct. 22, also at 6 p.m.

The Highland Lady Scots’ soccer program will open at home in the Division IV tournament. As the fifth seed, their opening game will be on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. against visiting Heath.

In the boys’ soccer Division IV tournament, Highland will open at sixth-seeded Horizon Science Academy on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m.
