MG runners sweep KMAC meet

Mount Gilead’s Will Baker won the KMAC boys’ race to lead his team to a league title in cross country Saturday.

Mount Gilead swept the team titles on Saturday when the KMAC held its cross country championships at Kokosing Dam.

The boys’ team finished with five of the top eight scorers in scoring 23 points. Second-place Fredericktown had 48.

Will Baker was the individual champion with a time of 15:03.29, while Owen Hershner took second place in 15:58.53. Tommy Emberg finished fifth in 16:28.72 and Henry Bartlett took seventh in 16:34.13, while Nolan Hershner placed eighth in 16:34.32. Liam Stalnaker was 15th in 17:19.16 and Ethan Turner ran 16th in 17:19.36 to round out the team’s top seven.

Also, Ryan Swalley was 18th, Rowan Shaw was 22nd, Brycen Gabriel was 24th, Gage Bowersmith was 26th, Cade Lewis was 29th, Chace Staats was 31st, Grayson Smith was 33rd, Jon Miller was 38th, Tyler Miller was 40th, Abram Newson was 43rd, Blake Staats was 45th, Elias Bulkowski was 51st, Kasen Wallace was 52nd, Marshall Hand was 61st, Tiger Carmon was 65th, Gavin Keller was 69th and Max Bulkowski was 90th.

The girls’ race was much more closely contested. Mount Gilead won with 54 points, while Northmor took second with 57 and Fredericktown ran third with 62.

MG was led by Kimberly Staley, who placed second in 19:26.45. Gwen Hershner claimed sixth in 20:26.51 and Haley Pfeifer ran ninth in 20:48.55. Adriana Hershner claimed 14th in 21:05.63 and Danielle Pohlkotte took 27th in 22:31.3. Ava Baker ran 41st in 23:24.34, while Natalie Jagger placed 48th in 23:49.22.

Also, Baylee Snyder was 52nd and Brooke Jagger was 60th.

The Lady Golden Knights were led by Ryann Brinkman’s fourth-place finish in 20:14.85. Natalie Hunter ran eighth in 20:41.6, while Kate Lehman got 12th in 21:03.76 and Veronica Kanagy placed 15th in 21:07.3. Hannah Ambroise took 21st in 21:51.51, Macie Witherall got 22nd in 21:53.85 and Natalie Newman ran 24th in 22:18.7.

Also, Maddie May was 26th, Elizabeth Ruhl was 30th, Haylee Walker was 32nd, Katie Statler was 43rd, Shelby Cooper was 50th, Ella Albert was 53rd, Harley Barler was 58th, Ella Creswell was 65th and Kaylee Pope was 69th.

The Northmor boys claimed third place in their race. David Blunk finished third in 16:17.48 to lead the team, while Vinton Naylor placed 28th in 17:56.2. Owen Yunker claimed 34th in 18:15.23 and Carter Thomas took 36th in 18:23.87. Levi Hunter ran 39th in 18:40.45, Anthony Scheibe got 47th in 19:07.46 and Elliot Wall placed 57th in 19:33.66.

Also, Marcus Parsons was 64th and Ethan Amens was 77th.

Cardington’s girls were fourth in their race, with Magi Hallabrin placing fifth in 20:18.52. Sydney Meade took 23rd in 21:59.81, while Chessa Redman ran 28th in 22:38.47 and Dezzeray Mooney claimed 33rd in 23:04.3. Bailey Crone was 35th in 23:08.94, Madison Garrabrant took 42nd in 23:25.42 and Alayna Seavolt claimed 44th in 23:29.12.

The Cardington boys placed sixth in the league meet. Dylan Compton took 12th place in 17:14.46 to pace the Pirates. Riley Patterson finished 44th in 18:59.1 and Cohen Rammelsberg ran 59th in 19:38.54. Jacob McNichols placed 60th in 19:40.79 and Brayden Alwood claimed 66th in 19:53.69, while Jaxon Ongalibang claimed 76th in 20:40.57 and Danny Townsend got 81st in 21:18.05.

Also, Brayden Rammelsberg was 82nd, Hunter Jones was 85th, Thor Kovacs was 88th, C.J. Jones was 94th and Jacob Webb was 100th.

Highland Scots

The Highland boys’ cross country team placed second in Saturday’s MOAC championships with a total of 67 points. The meet was won by Ontario.

The Scots were led by Matthew Miller, who took seventh in 17:28.7. Cael Gilmore ran ninth in 17:41.9 and Henry Spence took 14th in 18:03.05. Ethan Harmon was 18th in 18:28.44, while Jayden Marcum took 19th in 18:29.86. Caden Barsic placed 24th in 19:04.08 and Maddox Weiss claimed 31st in 19:35.97.

Also, Brody Bonecutter was 34th, Isaiah Ross was 38th and Konner Blaney was 44th.

The Lady Scots placed seventh in a meet that was won by Shelby. Riley Matthews placed 18th in 22:22.38 to lead Highland, while Braylin Romshak took 30th in 23:10.94 and Abbie Pruett was 31st in 23:16.59. Brielle Gilmore claimed 33rd in 23:21.54 and Chloe Bolton finished 41st in 24:48.53, while Aubrey Kanagy took 43rd in 25:08.29 and Rose Green ran 44th in 25:18.72.

Also, Karli Chamberlain was 48th.
