MG beats Loudonville Friday night

Mount Gilead won in dominant fashion when they hosted Loudonville on Friday.

In claiming a 43-0 victory to improve to 3-6, 1-5 in KMAC competition, the Indians scored once in the first quarter on a three-yard run by quarterback Cole Fricke, but added three scores in the second period to turn a 6-0 lead into a 30-0 advantage.

Cam Vickers scored on a short run before Fricke hit Carson Trainer for a 46-yard touchdown and then connected with Wyatt Long for a 20-yard score. Vickers added two-point runs on each of those scores. MG then got a 31-yard touchdown run by Eliot Jones in the third quarter and a 15-yard scoring run by Long in the fourth.

Vickers ran for 170 yards in the game in passing the 1000-yard mark on the season, while Carson Barnum added 73 and Jones tallied 50. Fricke was 3-of-4 through the air for 96 yards with the touchdowns to Trainer and Long and a pass of 30 yards to Boe Sayers.

“I am proud of how our boys came out of the gate tonight and put four quarters of great football together,” said head coach Mike Reid. “We even cut our penalties down to three for 20 yards tonight. We have grown a lot over the season.”
