Morrow County Board of Elections (BOE) Director Penny Porter is reminding county residents the deadline to register to vote in the 2024 general election is a little over two weeks away on Monday, Oct. 7.
Porter said the BOE office will be open late from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 7 for anyone wanting to register. Normal BOE hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (closed Friday).
It is also possible to register to vote online on the BOE website at https://boe.morrowcountyohio.gov. Voter registration forms are also available at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) in Mount Gilead, Job and Family Services Office and public libraries in the county.
Poll workers are needed, and information about poll working can be found on the BOE website along with voter tools and much more information.
Earling voting will begin in person on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the BOE Office in the County Services building at 619 W. Marion Road, Mount Gilead, Suite 146. The schedule for in-person early voting is Tuesday through Friday, Oct. 8-25 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Early voting at the BOE will be extended to weekends through Sunday, Nov. 3. In addition to voting for president, senator and statewide candidates, voters will have the State 1 issue on the Redistricting Commission on the ballot, along with three countywide renewal issues, and several village, township and school district issues.
Countywide voters will decide on the EMS 2-mill renewal for five years, the EMS 1-mill renewal for five years, and the OSU Extension levy for programs and services renewal for 0.5 mill for five years.
Bennington Township has a roads renewal for 2 mills for three years, and Bennington Township west has a local option for Sunday sales of beer, wine and mixed beverages – Bell Store, Inc. Cardington will have two village renewal issues for current expenses, one is for 3.9 mills and the other is 2.1 mills. Cardington Township will have a cemetery renewal issue for 2.6 mills for three years. The Village of Chesterville renewal is for 4 mills for current expenses for five years, and Chester Township has a road renewal issue for 3.5 mills for five years. Chester Cemetery is for 1.5 mills for five years. Congress Township roads is a renewal for 0.5 mills for five years.
Franklin Township has a roads renewal for 2.5 mills for three years. Harmony Township has a road renewal for 2.5 mills and an additional fire levy for 2.5 mills for five years. South Bloomfield Township has a roads renewal for 2.5 mills for five years, and Sparta has a current expenses renewal for 2 mills for five years. Troy Township roads renewal is for 1.25 mills for five years, and Westfield Township roads levy is for 2 mills for five years. Perry-Congress has a fire renewal for 0.5 mill for five years and a fire renewal for 1 mill for three years.
No Morrow County school districts have levies on the ballot this fall, however, Morrow County residents in Buckeye Valley will decide on a 4.46-mill construction bond issue for 39 years. Galion City School District residents will vote on an additional improvements levy for a continuing 5-mill levy. Fire districts which overlap into Morrow County are for Big Walnut Joint Fire District renewal for 2.5 mills, Elm Valley Fire District replacement for 2.9 mills, First Consolidated Fire District additional for 3 mills, and Fredericktown Rec District parks and recreational renewal for 1.5 mills.
